We, at the Salvation Army: Carpentersville Service Center, (150 S. Rt. 25, Carpentersville - Behind the Tractor Supply Co.) have had good success with the recent change of the hours of our pantry.(which, for those who may not know, is Tuesdays 3 - 5pm). We are now, in our second week, serving an average of 60 - 90 residents of the Carpentersvile community in those 2 hours! In fact, it's been successful enough, that we are seeking ways to increase our food supply so that we can feed more people as numbers rise. I'm looking for anyone who would be willing to volunteer to drive to our supplier (Northern Illinois Food Bank) in St Charles to pick up free items that are only available by pick-up, and to bring them to our pantry location.
Also, if anyone knows of resources to find additional sources of safe and usable food, or has any other ideas that could help us serve this area, please feel free to share what you know. (Also, if you know of people cannot afford to provide their families with the food they need, please refer them to us--all they have to do is come Tuesdays 3 - 5pm with photo-ID and separate proof of address)
Thank you:- Glenn R Moore III
