Student Impact - Update

COMING SOON:
Uprising starts October 2nd. We meet in Mr. Smith’s classroom in Room 250 at 6:45 until about 7:25am each Thursday morning. This is a time of student-led teaching, prayer, worship and serving. All students are encouraged to attend. This year’s focus is showing God’s love around our school.

On Sunday, October 5th we’ll be turning our normal House Group time into a serving event where all of us will be together serving somewhere locally. Details are still coming together, but I wanted to let you know in advance so that you are sure not to miss this fun day!

Foundation Groups Vision Meeting

As we head into this new ministry season, one of our desires as a church is to equip people like yourself to come alongside groups of people who want to get rooted and built up (Col. 2:6-7) in the core beliefs and practices of the Christian faith. If this catches your attention, interest or passion, we’d like to invite you to attend a 30 minute vision meeting to consider stepping into the process of becoming a Foundation Group Leader.

Vision Meeting (30 min.) – Choose One
Sunday, September 21st – 12:45pm in Room B-103
Wednesday, September 24th – 8:45pm in Room F-180
If neither date works for you but you are still interested, please let us know that too.
RSVP (include Name and High School Area) to foundationgroups@willowcreek.org or call Jennifer 224-512-1714

At each vision meeting we will share with you the purpose, strategy and support related to Foundation Groups and what is required of Foundation Group Leaders. Prayerfully consider if God might be inviting you into this journey as part of GroupLife @ Willow. We hope to see you there on Sun., 9/21 or Wed., 9/25.

Habitat for Humanity - Serving Opportunity Carpentersville

We are very excited to have a foundation in at 203 & 205 S. Lincoln. Work on the duplex is starting soon. We are planning to "Blitz" the framing of the homes. We need skilled carpenters and other very handy folks to work 9/20 and then 9/22-9/27. The work days will run from 8-5ish.

If you are a handy person or a skilled carpenter who is available and interested in any of those dates, please let me know. Or, if you know somebody else who might be interested, capable, and available, please pass the ask along.

Thank you so much.

Exchange Student - Dundee Crown

Rica Hamaan is currently attending Dundee Crown High School and living with a family in Algonquin. She is a delightful young woman, 16 yrs. old, from the Saxony region of Germany. She will be here until next July and will stay at her current host home until January. She is fluent in English, Spanish and German.

Her current family adores her and would like to host her the entire year but her exchange program requires a minimum of two families per student per year. We would like her to stay with her next host family a minimum of two months. Her host family must live in the Dundee Crown attendance area.

Rotary runs one of the largest exchange student programs in the world. We have an excellent training seminars and support programs for our students and their host families. Many of our students become lifelong friends with their host families, attending weddings and visiting back and forth after they return home. Hosting a foreign exchange student can be a wonderful cultural experience for the host family and the student.
